14th November “GIS Day” was celebrated

“GIS Day” within framework of “Training for teachers who will teach geography with application of  GIS at secondary schools ” project of school N78, Baku, who was winner the second grant contest on Development and Innovation in Education, was conducted at Khazar University on November 14, 2018.  GIS Day was initiated in the USA in 1999, then it was started to be celebrated in other countries. GIS Day was initiated by Jack Dangermond, who is the president and founder of “ESRI” and international provider of software of GIS and geographical information base control. At the moment, GIS Day is celebrated in 74 countries all over the world.

The event were participated by teachers selected through online inquiry from secondary schools of Baku, members of the project staff: Project Manager; Murad Zeynalov, Director of secondary school N78; Samir Velizade, the Project Coordinator and GIS specialist; GIS specialist and candidate for a degree of the Institute of Geography Elvin Amrahov and training teacher: Arzu Ahmadova, the person working for doctor’s degree of the Institute of Geography and a teacher of geography of ABC-Azerbaijan British College; Rovshan Abbasov, Manager of Department of Geography and Environment of Khazar University; Rauf Amanov, Manager of Caucasus GEO Survey Company and GIS expert; Elvin Aliyev, the colleague of the Department of Geography and Environment of Khazar University and Manager of CASPIAN GEOMATICS company; Yashar Nesibli, Manager of Department of Geoinformation and Cartography  of the Institute of Geography, scientific researchers of the Institute of Geography; master’s students and doctoral students of Baku State University and Khazar University.
