CASPIAN GEOMATICS LLC will conduct the assessment of river bed processes in a number of dangerous rivers using GIS technologies based on the signed bilateral agreement. For this purpose, the contract dated 02.03.2022 was signed. Currently, work is being planned in this direction and primary materials are being collected about the rivers to be studied.
In recent years, regional manifestations of global climate fluctuations and unplanned economic activity have led to the activation of natural-destructive hydro-meteorological processes. As a result, landslides, floods, mudflows, etc. such processes have intensified and started to have a more negative impact on the environment.
The most widespread of such processes in the territory of Azerbaijan are floods and mudflows. These types of flows cause great damage to the environment and all types of economic facilities in mountainous areas, including in Azerbaijan. More frequent floods and mudflows in the republic destroy settlements, hydrotechnical facilities, roads, etc. collapses, destroys farmland. For this reason, it is important to study floods and mudflows in order to effectively use natural resources and protect the environment. At the same time, natural and anthropogenic factors that cause floods and mudflows should be investigated. Based on aerospace methods and GIS, the study of flood and mudflow dangerous natural-destructive hydro-meteorological processes and general river bed processes is becoming more relevant day by day.
It is no coincidence that in recent years, preference for the use of satellite data in environmental research and management has been put before the scientific community as a special request by our state. Thus, several clauses of the “State Program for the Development of Remote Earth Observation Services in the Republic of Azerbaijan for the Years 2019-2022” approved by Decree No. 696 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated November 15, 2018, are related to the monitoring of water facilities, their refers to restructuring and management. Thus, by using satellite images and GIS technology, it is possible to achieve the most serious advances in flood management and measures.
Stages of contract research:
Investigating the flows of rivers that cause dangerous floods and mudflows;
conducting natural studies on the studied rivers;
estimation of hydraulic resistance coefficient;
morphometric analysis of the studied areas based on the digital model and high-resolution aerial imagery;
landscape structure mapping works on the studied areas;
study of the impact of anthropogenic factors on the spatial distribution of floods and mudflows on the studied rivers;
conducting detailed studies on geoinformation analyzes and other methods, etc.
ON SOME RIVERS, RIVER BED PROCESSES ARE ASSESSED
