Sea level fluctuations, Wind regime and currents, topographic and bathymetric surveys, mapping
“Impact of Caspian Sea level fluctuations on the landscape ecology condition of the Lankaran-Astara coastal zone” scientific-research.
Above all, researchers studied the archival materials of the area, the soil-vegetation cover, and the landscape complexes of the coastal zones within the framework of scientific research. In addition, researchers studied the Caspian Sea, focusing on its level fluctuations, wind regime, and currents. They analyzed level fluctuations using 70 years of observational data. Then, statistical analyzes were carried out and including graphical design works. In the coastal zones of the Lankaran region, researchers performed topographic and bathymetric surveys to investigate the landscape-ecological situation. They created a triangulation model and conducted a comparative analysis of the obtained results with satellite data.
As a result, the issues raised and solved in the scientific research:
Studying archival materials on the research area, using literature sources (references);
Studying the characteristics of soil-vegetation and landscape complexes of coastal zones covering Lankaran and Astara regions;
Studying the condition of natural resources of the Lankaran-Astara coast of the Caspian Sea and their use;
Studying the impact of economic activity on the environmental components of Lankaran-Astara coasts;
Studying of the Caspian Sea and its level fluctuations, as well as the wind regime and currents;
Conducting statistical analyzes based on observational data;
Analysis of Caspian Sea level fluctuations based on 70 years of observational data;
Study of the causes of sea level increases and decreases;
Studying of seasonal fluctuations;
Classification of prevailing winds and their indicators, duration and directions, as well as study of their distribution in directions, study of repetition of maximum windy days;
Conducting topographical surveys experimentally in the coastal zones of Lankaran region and performing bathymetric surveys with hydrographic echo sounder, studying the landscape-ecological condition with modern methods;
Bringing the surveys results to the elevation system for the purpose of determining the current state of level fluctuations, balancing issues;
Preparation of relief profiles based on the triangulation network model;
Digital mapping of the distribution of average annual precipitation anomalies of the Caspian coastal areas based on vectorization based on GIS.
