The team conducted engineering geological investigations to design the reservoir, and they drilled a total of 168 m.
The parties have signed a bilateral contract to conduct investigations for designing a water reservoir located in the Khazar district. From a geomorphological aspect, the eastern part of the Eastern Absheron synclinorium features a terraced smooth plain. The geological investigation team primarily inspected the future construction site and adjacent areas to assess their geological and hydrogeological conditions. We drilled exploration boreholes, collected samples, and conducted soil laboratory investigations. The team drilled 28 exploratory boreholes with a depth of 6m to assess the engineering and geological conditions of the site. However, the drilling team completed a total volume of 168 m of drilling.
Firstly, the engineers selected the density and depth of boreholes according to the norm. In an area with a II complexity category for engineering and geological conditions, buildings and structures in the II responsibility class are situated.
The engineering surveys for construction form the basis of the normative documents for conducting geological and lithological surveys. Secondly, these surveys investigate building foundations, protect structures from corrosion, and assess construction in seismic regions. Additionally, the documents include other currently valid instructions. During the drilling, we took samples with and without a structure and involved them in soil laboratory analysis.
Above all, based on the results of laboratory studies of samples and geological-lithological sections, researchers separated engineering-geological elements according to geological conditions. After that, the laboratory tests determined the physical-mechanical indicators, normative, and calculation parameters of the separated engineering-geological elements. As a result, geological studies produced results that allowed us to form lithological columns and construct their profiles.
In addition to the results obtained, the researchers used previous years’ research, fund, and archived materials to prepare the report.
