Baku, July 18, 2018 – Azercosmos OJSC has announced the results of the “ Stimulation of Earth Observation for Sustainable Development of Azerbaijan ” project held in 2018-2019.
Projects submitted for the contest were evaluated based on their scientific importance for sustainable development of the country, the use in a creative way, and the feasibility and innovativeness of the proposal.The winning projects were announced during a seminar dedicated to the results of the competition held on 18 July 2018, at Azercosmos OJSC. CASPIAN GEOMATICS company was among the winner companies. Eight proposalsthat meet all the criteria of the assessment were selected as winners.According to the request of participants, the imageries obtained via Azersky were presented to them free of charge.
According to the reports of winning projects, using the Azersky – Earth Observation satellite images, the issues on lands in the mountainous areas of Azerbaijan, assessment of dynamics of agricultural and forest resources, prediction of river floods and their consequences, ecological condition of lakes and dynamic changes, spectral characteristics of oil-contaminated soil on the coastline, forecast of snow and water resources and others will be reflected in the final reports, and the findings will be publicly disclosed.
