A contract was signed for the purpose of carrying out bathymetry surveys within the framework of the “New Baku International Sea Trade Port Project” Phase II. Above all, the team widely used remote sensing methods and conducted geographical information systems analyses in the investigation area.
The investigation team is studying part of the coastal areas and the Caspian Sea basin in the Garadagh district of Baku city, covering an area of 17 ha. However, the coastal zone of the area consists of partially silty and sharply silty areas, areas consisting of ponds and algae, sandy and stony areas.
Firstly, researchers investigated the bottom relief of the sea basin, processed seabed relief points, and created a bathymetric model. Secondly, we used high-accuracy field equipment in the bathymetric surveys. As a result, after completing the bathymetric survey, they connected the existing reference points in the area and adjusted the elevation indicators to the Baltic Elevation System.
