A bilateral agreement was concluded for the purpose of complex study of water resources and reconstruction of water farm infrastructure in the research area.
To assess the changes in water resources, researchers should study the multi-year fluctuations, evaluate the effects of both natural and anthropogenic factors that cause these fluctuations, and determine the influence of each factor on this change.
In general, the ongoing neglect and destruction have changed the hydrological regime of natural water bodies in the liberated territories. This has led to the serious degradation of water farm facilities. Reason being that the water resources in liberated territories need to be studied again, researchers find it important to do so in alignment with modern requirements.
The construction and operation of water facilities in the area directly depend on the water sources that supply them. For a long time, the rivers have provided water to the facilities. And, the groundwater has been used alongside the amelioration and water farm facilities for an extended period. Therefore, researchers must first analyze the information about the water resources in the liberated areas to study the impact of hydrotechnical facilities and canals. To understand the reasons and degrees of changes in these areas with rich water resources, stakeholders need to analyze this information. Without this understanding, stakeholders cannot fundamentally solve the issues of improving water farm facilities.
CASPIAN GEOMATICS conducted a comparative analysis of the hydrological characteristics of the Lesser Caucasus natural region. We assessed the influence of natural and anthropogenic factors involved in their formation.
To address the issues raised, the team used statistical data and satellite images. They then carried out comparative analyses.
Thus, we resolved the following issues:
Collection and systematization of information on water resources.
Comparative analysis of data on natural conditions.
Analysis of data on modern climatic conditions of the research area.
Cartographic representations of physical-geographical parameters on satellite images (models, combinations of spectral channels).
Creation of the Geographic Information System (GIS) of the research area.
